Scholarship Information Sheet

Sponsored by Lebanon/Wilson Country Chamber of Commerce Sports Council Division for $750.00
Cumberland University will provide matching funds for a total scholarship of $1,500.00

Eligibility
The recipient must be a graduating senior from one of the Wilson County high schools, selected as an Academic Athletic, and plan to enroll at Cumberland University as a full-time or part time undergraduate student. In the event none of the Academic Athletes plan to attend Cumberland University the recipient's selected institution may include any accredited public or private two or four year institution of post-secondary education.

Criteria for selection

a.) Graduate from one of Wilson County's High Schools

b.) Selected as an Academic Athlete

c.) Academic record

d.) Financial need

e.) Community/School Involvement

Financial need will be evaluated from Federal Tax Forms, academic record will be determined from transcripts and the applicant's service to school and community will be taken from the application.

Application procedures and selection process
Completed applications will be due no later than April 1, 2011.

The selection committee of the Sports Council for the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce will review all applications with utmost confidentiality. The selection committee will not review any applications that are incomplete or do not have all necessary supporting documents. Selection of the recipient will be made by April 15, 2011.

Award Notification
The Sports Council will send to the recipient a notice of award specifying the terms of the award. The recipient will be required to sign and return one copy of the award notice to the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce, acknowledging the terms and certifying that the scholarship funds will be used for educational expenses.

Disbursements
A check in the name of the recipient will be drawn from the Sports Council Scholarship Fund and sent in one lump sum of the financial aid offices of the college or university to be attended by the recipient. The scholarship check will be presented to the recipient upon verification of registration as a student.

Refunds
Refunds resulting from the student's failure to complete a full study period will be returned to the Lebanon Chamber of Commerce for deposit in the scholarship account. The college or university's refund policy shall govern the amount returned to the acccount.
