Under direct supervision, is responsible for completing a certified Peace Officers Standard and Training (POST) Commission Academy in-service, Aircraft Rescue Fire Fighting training and Field Training Officer Program.
Will be required to successfully complete a basic training program that consist of courses in criminal law, firearms training, physical training, first responder training, traffic law enforcement, human relations, crime scene research, patrol procedures, departmental policies, report writing, and other related areas within a 12-month period. Officer Trainees who successfully complete the required training will receive additional on-the-job training thereafter. After required training is completed the Officer Trainee will be considered for appointment to Officer I.
An associate’s degree or comparable degree hours in a relevant field of study from an accredited college, or certification as a Certified Emergency Medical Technician required. Must be no less than 21 years of age, possess a valid Tennessee driver's license, have a clear motor vehicle record, criminal history with no felony, DUI, or drug related convictions. Must successfully complete required written examinations, physical fitness and psychological evaluations. Must maintain SIDA (Security Identification Display Area) and AOA (Airport Operations Area) clearance.
Must successfully complete all requirements for commissioning, as a Public Safety Officer within 12-months of employment, failure to do so will result in termination of employment.

Starting Salary: $31,721 ($15.25/hour)
Shift: Must be available to work 1st, 2nd & 3rd shifts. Schedule will include weekdays, weekends & holidays.
Hiring Bonus: A one-time bonus of $3,000 for possessing on hire date a POST or Firefighter I certification, and additional one-time bonus of $1,800 for possessing on hire date an Emergency Medical Technician certification. Bonus paid upon completion of all required training or the employee's successful completion of probationary status (hire date plus six months, unless extended). Requires the signing of a five (5) year employment agreement.
